SO much to do in booming Cumming, GA!

One of the things that excites me most about our newest neighborhood, Trammel Estates, is ita™s dynamite location! Cumming, Georgia has been building a positive reputation from the get go, and for so many reasons. Hopefully you read my previous blog about the schools and their astounding test scores, but that isna™t all that Forsyth County has going on. People have been buying , building homes, and relocating to  this gem of a City for years now and it finally is getting the attention it deserves. With Trammel Estates by Homesouth Communities being situated just off of exit 13 from GA 400 it is truly in the heart of it all. Just around the corner is  Haw Creek Park. Located off of Echols Road and spanning approximately 85 acres, the park includes an approximately 3.3-mile multi-use trail for both foot travel and mountain bikes. Pavilions and a multi-pod playground with a woodlands theme are also among the parka™s features, and ita™s the perfect way for a family of any size to spend a day off enjoying their new community. Another great addition to the neighborhood is the Cumming Playhouse. What once was The Cumming Public School, it was built in 1923  to serve grades 1-11 and offered for the first time a High School Diploma in Cumming, Georgia.  Shortly thereafter it burned and was rebuilt  and reopened in 1927.  Over the years the school transformed itself as needs arose and served as a primary grade school, middle grade school and in its final  years as the headquarters of the Forsyth County Board of Education.  The City of Cumming acquired the school in 1999 from the Forsyth County BOE and through the efforts of the Historical Society of Forsyth County, the old school was named to The National Register of Historic Places in 2000.  The Historic Marker was dedicated in April 2006. Funding for restoration was provided by Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax monies earmarked for Historic Preservation.  During this process beautiful tongue and groove pine flooring and vaulted ceiling with exposed beams were uncovered in the school auditorium.  This area was restored to its original architectural beauty and converted to the 184 seat Cumming Playhouse with state-of-the-art lighting and sound.  Opening in July 2004, playhouse patrons have enjoyed many main stage plays as well as various concerts representing an array of music styles, blues & jazz, classical, bluegrass and country. With so much going on and so many things to do in Cumming, ita™s no secret why there are more new homes being demanded there than are in any other county in Georgia. Take a weekend and explore the neighborhood that everyone is talking about!
