Atlanta has so much good culture going on that people don’t always realize there’s a classic fun culture as well. It’s not all farmer’s markets, the ballet, and the Falcons: Atlanta has a lot of events that are just good old fashioned fun. One of the best? Karaoke every night of the week! Monday: The Local
This aptly named Virginia Highlands dive bar has that exquisite quality that’s so hard to describe. Probably not somewhere your mother would approve of you going, but with a stage and a karaoke party every Monday night. Get a little wild and cut loose!
Tuesday: Clermont Lounge
This infamous nightclub is not for the faint of heart. If the ladies of the evening are part of a historical institution, does that count as a history lesson? Admittedly not everyone’s cup of team, this is a great place for a night out with the boys—and an innocent excuse to swing by Tuesdays after 9:30, because that’s when the karaoke starts.
Wednesday: Chaplins
This club has karaoke three days a week, technically, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Still, with over 100,000 songs in their repertoire you could go every night for a month and not hear the same medley of songs twice. Don’t be underwhelmed by the exterior; it looks a little plain on the outside, but that’s probably because they’ve sunk all their cash into the amazing list of songs. If you want to stretch yourself and show off that one obscure song that makes your voice sound the best (but that no karaoke bar has ever had), clear a Wednesday night and make your way to Chaplins.
Thursday: Felix’s Atlanta
If you want to swing by a neighborhood gay bar for a few very reasonably priced drinks and some great entertainment, Felix’s Atlanta is the way to go. Boasting entertainers but also offering room for people to take the stage on their own, Felix’s Atlanta has a great mix of patrons, drinks, and entertainment choices. In a way, this is a much less risky choice for a date than a bunch of other bars on this list: good energy and great fun is the Felix’s Atlanta way.
Friday: Camelli’s
If you’re looking for something a little more exciting on a Friday night than your typical bar, head to Camelli’s. The first thing is that Karaoke starts at 10pm. The second? They have a range of 21 and over ice creams, and there’s nothing that takes the fear out of getting on stage quite like some hard chocolate ice cream. It’s a whimsical way to enjoy the evening’s offerings.
Saturday: Mary’s
This Tuesday and Saturday haunt is a stable favorite. Karaoke at Mary’s is a tradition, and with over 15,000 songs you’re going to have quite the selection no matter which night you stop by. Saturday is (predictably) livelier, so don’t stop by if you want to hog the mic that night!
Sunday: Karaoke Medley
This chain (it just opened Karaoke Medley 2) is open 7 days a week, and offers karaoke rooms that you and your friends can rent to have a blast.
